Well, Day one of the US release of the new All Over The World comp CD didn't exactly leave me encouraged.
For one, It was difficult to find. OK, it's a comp CD on its release day. There are higher priorities. But, Best Buy had none... and after more traveling, I end up at our three story Tower Records which gets a lot of traffic. They had just one copy.
It gives the appearance to me that Legacy Recordings isn't even setting this up to succeed.
Although I support (and tell people to support) artists by buying their CDs, I can't seem to justify the huge ugly ass FBI warning on the back cover and disc. I'm afraid to play the damn thing much less rip it into my iPod.
Oh yes, the promo sticker on the front cover... says "20 Massive Hits including 'Evil Woman,' 'Can't Get It Out Of My Head,'..." Sitting next to that on the shelves is ELOs Greatest Hits, now adorned with a Sony/BMG slipcase with the phrase "Career-Spanning Hits From The Classical String Rockers!"
Does anybody at a record company check anything?

Did you notice how I was shot down on Showdown for even mentioning ELO THE HITS, it has the same FBI Warning, last weekend?
Also, no TV ads in sight, except on BBC America, can't even get that channel, Network television and MTV/Vh1 would have made more logical choices than TV Land, Nick at Night, Fox News Channel, Food Network, Comedy Central, The History Channel, National Geographic et al!

Also, Barnes & Noble had Face The Music repackaged as a HITSAVERS PLATINUM sticker instead of Nice Price or BEST VALUE, even though it only went gold here stateside, maybe this is Sony's subtle admission that they need to pay the RIAA to re-evaluate ELO's back catalog!

I finally saw the full animated ad, it was on The History Channel within a story about Hiroshima at just around 12:25 AM this morning, so not during its schedule times of 12 PM-8 PM, they said to call an 800 number or order online @ http://www.elocd.com!
